We invite DOERS member systems and state/province initiatives to apply to The Student Success Through OER Rubric Grant Program. The goal of the grant program is to operationalize the OER rubric. The year-long grant program encourages grantees to use the rubric in full, or parts of the rubric, to self-assess their current state of OER practice at their institution or system. The program will provide mentorship from members of the DOERS Advancing OER for All Working Group, who are all committed to the use of OER to support student success and are leaders at their respective organizations. The program will also bring grantees together for peer learning, collaboration, and thought partnership.
Applications are due Sunday, November 16, 2025 @ 11:59 pm PST

About the Rubric
The Rubric is a comprehensive self-assessment tool designed to guide administrators, instructors, staff, and students in evaluating the current state of OER practice at their system or institution. Each of the dimensions targets specific areas that can remove barriers and enhance opportunities for student success. By using the rubric, stakeholders can reflect on strengths, identify areas for growth, and track progress over time. It is intended to provide a structured framework for internal reflection, planning, and continuous improvement, by helping institutions align their OER initiatives with their mission, resources, and student needs. We believe that all higher education stakeholders have roles to play in advancing these goals.
Engaging with the Rubric
Users can engage with this Rubric in multiple ways: as a commitment to engaging with the OE movement, consideration for the effectiveness of textbook affordability, method to evaluate a specific OE program’s progress, and/or tool to assess an entire system's or institution’s implementation of OE across the curriculum and throughout relevant offices and units.
